Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators

The Town of Hampton has a number of openings at its Wastewater Treatment Plant.  Placement in any one of the open classifications is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, either in Training (OIT), Operator 1 (OP1) or Operator 2 (OP2) performs technical work involving the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant including necessary recording of data, process control, lab work, preventative, corrective, condition and risk-based maintenance. Based on experience and certifications, these positions include the operation and maintenance of the Town of Hampton Wastewater Treatment Plant and Pump Stations and their associated equipment.

The Wastewater System Operations & Maintenance Technician performs technical and mechanical work involving the operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and pump stations and carries out the Division’s Preventive Maintenance program. Performs grease trap and industrial pre-treatment inspections. Serves as back-up plant operator when needed.

A Wastewater Treatment Plant Lead Operator requires supervisory and technical capabilities derived from considerable hands-on experience in managing and operating the Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTP) and Town Pump Stations within Federal and State guidelines. The Lead Operator is expected to exercise independent judgment, to be a team leader, to provide responsible control and initiative, and to resolve the complex and technical situations related to wastewater plant operations and pump stations and their associated equipment. This includes performing and reviewing lab work, as well as performing preventative, corrective, condition and risk-based maintenance.
