JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position performs engineering duties in the design, analysis, permitting, bidding, and construction administration of municipal infrastructure including sewers, drainage, storm-water management, roadways, sidewalks, bicycle facilities, bridges, buildings, coordinated traffic signal systems, and parks amenities. Conduct project management of all phases of project development and implementation, including preparation of construction specifications, cost estimates and contracts. Prepare RFQs and RFPs for professional services and construction activities, and manage contracts with consultants and contractors. Review designs, reports and private development documents; provide project and record information to the general public; prepare reports, applications for funding and requests for Board approvals; present to elected boards, public agencies and community groups. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, is Unaffiliated and provides an excellent work life balance. The position is grade 17, with a salary dependent upon experience.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in NH (or ability to obtain within 6-months); or a combination of experience and education necessary to perform the work
- Minimum of five (5) years demonstrable relevant municipal engineering experience
- Extensive experience in technical administrative aspects of project development, implementation, management, permitting, funding and reporting
- Ability to set priorities on major tasks, projects, and program direction and make all levels of engineering decisions
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and civil engineering analysis tools, and have a working knowledge of ArcGIS Online and AutoCAD Civil 3D software
- Experience with FHWA/NHDOT funded projects and LPA Certification preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Must have a clear understanding of municipal, State and Federal practices, processes, procedures and regulations as they pertain to the Engineering Department and the Public Works Division
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
