Chief of Police: Westminster, Massachusetts

The Town of Westminster, MA is seeking a progressive, community-oriented Police Chief to lead a full-service police department (approx. budget $2,812,242) consisting of 16 FT officers, 6 PT officers, and 10 non-sworn employees. With approximately 8,300 residents, Westminster is a quintessential New England community located in eastern Massachusetts that enjoys substantial year ‘round recreational opportunities. With easy access to Route 2 and I-190, Westminster is minutes from Worcester, 56 miles west of Boston, and 15 miles from the New Hampshire border. The Town is governed by a 3-member Selectboard, with an appointed Town Administrator.

A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or business management and graduation from the police academy; a master’s degree in public administration, business administration, or related field is desirable; ten years of police experience, five of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; or any equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A successful candidate must hold or be able to acquire within 270 days of appointment, Certification as Police Officer issued by Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council; Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License; and Firearms Certification and License to Carry.

Starting salary of $155,000 is negotiable commensurate with qualifications. Excellent benefits.
