The Town of Wolfeboro is seeking applications for the position of Water Treatment Operator.
The individual will be responsible for the operation of equipment in the Water Treatment Plant. Operates a wide variety of mechanical equipment used in the treatment processes. Operates, repairs, and maintains the facility under the supervision of the Chief Operator. Performs all other related work as required. Essential Functions: (The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. ▪ Operates water treatment plant and monitors operation of all plant equipment. Monitors and tests water at various stages of the process to ensure quality of water.
▪ Determines and sets proper chemical dosages; regulates the proper flow of chemicals through mechanical feeders.
▪ Diagnoses problems and performs corrective actions; makes process adjustments; reads gauges and meters, starts, and stops equipment and operates valves to route and control flow.
▪ Takes samples and performs basic lab analysis.
▪ Operates PLC and SCADA systems.
▪ Operates water filters, maintains proper water level, and washes filters on a daily basis.
▪ Enters data, prepares reports and maintains records.
▪ Fills chemical day tanks.
▪ Make repairs to equipment or assists with the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
▪ Performs custodial and grounds maintenance work in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility including sweeping, mopping, mowing and snow removal.
▪ Strictly adheres to all safety and security rules and regulations.
▪ Attends classes to maintain knowledge of regulations as requested.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience: High School graduation or trade school; plus, one year’s experience at a water treatment plant. NH Grade I Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Electrical/mechanical background is highly desirable.
