Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technician

Requirements: The Town of Exeter is currently seeking a full time Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technician for its Water & Sewer department. Individual will be responsible to operate and maintain the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and chemical systems. Understand the principles associated with pumps, motors, controls, valves, pipes and power sources. Read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, drawings and service bulletins. Prepare and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment, as specified. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, chemical or control system malfunctions. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.  Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.  Experience and functional knowledge of Word, Excel and the ability to learn moderately complex software programs. Ability to work with the public in a respectful, tactful manner. Ability to work with limited direction. Ability to establish a working knowledge of applicable state, local and Federal regulations, procedures and statures. Ability to clearly and concisely articulate to others, verbally and in writing, pertinent and necessary information regarding scheduled and emergency maintenance operations.

Qualifications: Duties require knowledge of water and wastewater maintenance operations equivalent to completion of a high school diploma along with advanced courses from a two-year college or technical school and one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid State of New Hampshire CDL Class B driver’s license with air brakes with good driving record. NH Water Works Operator Certification, Distribution Grade 1, within six (6) months of hire. NEWEA Collection System Operator Certification, Grade1, within (12) months of hire.
