Sewer Crew Leader
Grade 6 Starting Step $21.00
Position Purpose: This position involves heavy labor and skilled mechanical work in the maintenance, repair and related services of the Wastewater Collection System and Wastewater Pumping Stations. This role provides hands-on leadership to the crew and ensures quality standards and is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. Performs all other related work as required. Reports to the dept. foreman. -Always Ensures the safety of the Water & Sewer Maintenance Workers; strictly enforces all safety rules and regulations.
-Maintains time logs, sets up and oversees daily assignments for crew members. Trains and advises new employees; offers guidance and directions to other department personnel as required.
-Orders parts for pumps and pump station as needed. Maintains pump station with zero overflow.
-Maintains and repairs various pumps such as sewer pumps, water pumps, as well as other equipment associated with the water distribution system or wastewater collections systems. Rebuild pumps and replace parts as needed.
-Inspects man holes, cleans/rods sewer lines.
-Checks water and sewer stations to ensure proper operation and performs maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures and prescribed procedures.
-Cleans wet wells. -

-Marks out underground services for sewer and sometimes water.
-Communicate with customers to provide information, maintaining good public relations.
-Keeps work records, maintains logs and organizes trucks and equipment related to work functions; uses basic computer skills for maintaining records, recording events and related issues.
-Operates heavy equipment for excavation and to remove and/or deliver materials.
-Maintains buildings and grounds at all pump stations. Removes and/or oversees the removal of snow and ice at all sewer stations and pump stations; paints, removes weeds, mows and the like.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications: Education, Training and Experience: High School diploma/GED equivalent, NH Grade I Water Distribution Operators License, and a valid NH driver’s license are required. Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing background and/or vocational trade courses are highly desirable.
