The New Durham Police Department has an opening for a front line patrol supervisor. This opening is for a sergeant or lieutenant dependent upon experience and resume.
SCOPE OF WORK: The supervisor position provides direct supervision for patrol personnel with regard to enforcing criminal, motor vehicle, and all other appropriate laws to ensure public protection and safety, maintain law and order, detect and prevent crimes, apprehend suspects, and prosecute violators. The supervisor is expected to work patrol shifts. Additionally, the supervisor will assist with assist with administrative and investigative duties.
The position also includes assistance with presenting at grand jury, background investigations, assisting criminal investigations, being part of the Strafford County MDT and attending CAC interviews and victim interviews, juvenile prosecution and other administrative duties as needed. The successful candidate will be able to interact with all department personnel as a team, as well as other town departments for the department’s mission to positively work for the benefit of the town and victims.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Full time certified police officer in the State of New Hampshire or other state with the ability to obtain NH law enforcement certification.
2. Full time law enforcement experience with investigative and supervisory experience and duties preferred. Military law enforcement experience will be considered in combination with law enforcement
experience.
3. Extensive knowledge of the NH Criminal Code and Motor Vehicle Code, as well as an understanding of law enforcement rules, regulations, policies and standard police practice.
4. Full time patrol experience and combination of investigative, supervisory, special duties and experiences which will be beneficial for a successful supervisor.
5. Must undergo an extensive background investigation and psychological evaluation.
6. High School diploma, high school equivalency or higher education.
7. Upon appointment, candidates must obtain a New Hampshire driver’s license in compliance with New Hampshire statutes governing driver’s licenses and registration.
