Planning Technician

The City of Keene’s Community Development Department is looking for a professional to join their team as a Planning Technician!  This position will work 34 hours per week and will be responsible for providing information to the public, conducting technical office and field work in the processing and review of regulatory applications, issues permits for land use changes and construction, and provides technical and administrative assistance to the Community Development staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public, employees, and other departments and agencies.  Provides administrative coverage when needed.

• Provides information to the public related to zoning, building code and environmental review.  Processes applications for approval, distributes plans to City departments, and reviews applications and issues permits.

• Assists applicants by providing interpretation and explanation of applicable requirements, regulations, and procedures.

• Conducts site inspections to determine compliance with City Codes, ordinances, and regulations.

• Reads blueprints, site plans and schematics and researches building and planning information.

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in planning or a closely related field plus one year of experience in municipal planning.

• Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and/or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred!

• A valid driver's license is required. 

Pay and Benefits include:

• This position will have a schedule of 34 hours per week and offers a pay range of $28.83- $35.92 per hour and is benefit eligible.  The City of Keene also offers employees the following benefits: earned time, a retirement plan and employee discounts!
