NOTICE OF VACANCY – October 17, 2024
POSITION: PARAMEDIC – Full Time (no current fire certificate needed) to become FT Firefighter/Paramedic. CPAT only.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
Also seeking lateral transfers at any level (EMT, AEMT or Paramedic)
WAGE: PARAMEDIC $26.52 – $31.96; AEMT $24.48 - $29.51; EMT $23.46 - $28.28 (2024 Ranges)
SUMMARY:
The Bedford, NH Fire Department has current opening(s) for Paramedics even with CPAT only and want to become a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. Firefighter course costs paid by the Town.
Also seeking lateral transfers for Firefighter - EMT, AEMT or Paramedic.
Currently, four shifts of 11 (Shift Captain, Lieutenant and 9 Firefighters).
· Wage adjustment for lateral transfers and private EMS based on years of service (8-step system).
· Eligibility for promotion after 3 years.
· Tuition and or shift reassignment for career development (Paramedicine, Fire Officer, etc.)
· In-house fire academy classes.
· Fire and EMS training provided on duty and off duty with overtime pay.
· 24 hours on, 72 hours off schedule (24/72).
· Daily rotation of positions.
· Annual Incentives (Tech Rescue, Pump/Aerial, etc.)
· PFAS Free gear to all employees for 2024.
TYPICAL DUTIES –
Respond to fire and medical emergencies. Drive and operate emergency apparatus. Inventory and maintain all apparatus and equipment in a constant state of readiness. Participate in fire prevention and risk reduction activities. Participate in regular training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS –
18 years of age, High school diploma or equivalent. Current CPAT certification or eligible for lateral transfer Firefighter I certification (Paramedics with only CPAT are encouraged to apply) National Registered EMT, Advance or Paramedic Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred). Qualified candidates will be expected to successfully pass the department, oral board, acrophobia test, and Chief’s interview to be considered eligible. Firefighter 2 required within one year and CDL required within two years.
