Executive Assistant

The Town of Amherst is seeking an Executive Assistant to the Amherst Community Development Department.

Job Summary:
As the Executive Assistant for the Community Development Department, you will perform a wide range of complex executive secretarial and administrative support functions, ensuring the efficient operation of our department. 
Major Duties:
·         Process a high volume of building and mechanical permit applications.
·         Produce and manage a variety of materials and correspondence and coordinate record retention.
·         Support land use boards and commissions for meetings and public hearings.
·         Provide customer service and assistance to various stakeholders.
·         Respond to zoning, planning, building, and code inquiries.
·         Process accounts payable and cash receipts; assist with website maintenance and updates.
·         Manage departmental supplies, equipment, calendar, and inspection scheduling.
 
 Knowledge and Skills Desired:
·         Proficiency in records maintenance and office software.
·         Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
·         Excellent communication and personal relations skills.
·         Competency in organizing and records retention.
·         Ability to read plans and blueprints, prepare reports and follow instructions.
·         Ability to establish effective working relationships with officials, employees, and the general public.
·         Knowledge of NH State Building Codes, Town ordinances and NH statutes would be helpful but is not required.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
·         High school diploma required; a degree is desirable but not required.
·         Minimum of five (5) years of experience in office management or an administrative role, or equivalent education and experience.
