Deputy Tax Collector & Assistant Town Clerk

 

This position is responsible for the assisting in the collection of taxes and for performing clerical and customer service duties in support of the Office of the Town Clerk.

 ·         Processes motor vehicle (MV) and boat registrations including issuing MV permits, calculating and collecting fees, title applications, lost plate, lost registration, and lost decal forms. Completes state portion of registration process. Upholds state standards of procedure as required of Municipal Agent.

 ·         Collects and processes property taxes and other fees, fines, and payments, including delinquent amounts.

 ·         Prepares yield tax and current use bills.

 ·         Prepares final water/sewer bills.

 ·         Balances property tax and water/sewer accounts.

 ·         Assists in the preparation of the annual Tax Collector’s Report.

 ·         Processes vital records requests, files and certifies birth, death and marriage certificates, and the issuing of marriage licenses on behalf of the Town Clerk.
