The Town of Hanover, NH is seeking a progressive, community-oriented Police Chief to lead this full-service police department (approx. operating budget of $4.5M) consisting of 21 FT officers, 1 PT officer, 11 FT and 3 PT non-sworn administrative personnel, and 7 full and part-time parking enforcement personnel. With approximately 12,000 residents, Hanover is a quintessential New England community on the Connecticut River/border of Vermont. Hanover is the host community to Dartmouth College with 6800 undergraduate and graduate students. Hanover is just minutes from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon; with easy access to I-91 and I-89, Hanover is an hour from Concord, and two hours northwest of Boston, MA. Hanover is central to the world-renowned ski areas of New Hampshire and Vermont. The Town is governed by a 5-member Selectboard, with an appointed Town Manager. A bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Administration or related field is preferred. At least ten years progressively responsible law enforcement with at least five years in supervisory, command and administrative positions, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.; or any equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
