Chief Assessor

The City of Rochester, NH seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking candidate for the position of Chief Assessor to perform technical, administrative, and professional work relating to the planning and management of the Assessing department. Qualified candidates will have proven leadership, management, and decision-making skills. The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of modern property appraisal principles and practices, including NH property tax laws; will have proven supervisory and staff development skills; and will possess exceptional communication and customer service skills. 

Special Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the real estate or appraisal field, including experience in the valuation of property for tax purposes
  • NH Certified Assessor
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license 

RMUN Grade 15 Exempt; FY25 Pay range is $89,413.41 to $120,473.15 dependent upon qualifications and experience with competitive benefits. Pre-employment testing to include educational and criminal background, driving record, medical and drug screen.
