JOB SUMMARY:

The Camp & After School Program Coordinator oversees and manages all aspects of the Summer Day Camp program and the After School and School Vacation Week Programs.

The Summer Day Camp consists of a (9) nine week program for up to 120 children per week in Grades K – 5 at Naticook Day Camp and up to 50 participants in Grades 5 – 9 in the Camp Trek program. During the School Year; this individual will be responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the After School and School Vacation Week Programs, which can have up to 45 children per day in Grades K – 5.

The individual in this front line position will manage the day to day operations of these including program planning, staff &family relations, recruitment, and training and evaluation of the programs and of the employees working in the program. This position works in an indoor/outdoor environment and is often required to do several tasks


SUPERVISION RECEIVED: 
The Camps & After School Program Coordinator works under the direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Manage seasonal staff of approximately 40 employees assigned to Summer Camp and After School Program.

HOURS:
Hours for this 40 per week position will fluctuate between the summer and school year. During the summer, the position will generally work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. During the School Year, this position will generally work Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Early Childhood Education, Physical Education or related field is preferred. OR Combination of education and experience that indicates an ability to meet the requirements of the job are also acceptable.
  • Must have a minimum of at least 2 years of supervisory level experience working in a summer camp; after school program youth education and development, or other related youth recreation programs.
  • Previous experience supervising and managing High School & College aged staff.
  • Current CPR and Standard First Aid certifications or willingness to obtain.
