The Town of Kennebunk is seeking a full-time Director of Public Services. The Director of Public Services is a Division Director level position responsible for the administration, development, implementation, and coordination of the operations of Town roads and the maintenance of Town parks, facilities, and its fleet. The Director of Public Services communicates and directs the workflow and coordination of projects and tasks to achieve department goals and provides a high level of service to the Kennebunk community.
The Director of Public Services evaluates the cost effectiveness of departmental programs and activities; plans and budgets for the maintenance, repair and other work on Town highways, bridges, parks and facilities; and manages the Solid Waste, Recycling, and Composting contracted services.
The Director of Public Services reports to the Town Manager.
Construction has started on a new Public Services Facility! We anticipate that the facility will be ready for occupancy in late 2025.
Position Requirements
(A) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in construction management, public administration, business administration, civil engineering, or a related field preferred;
(B) A history of progressive supervisory experience;
(C) Experience managing within a union environment preferred;
(D) Experience in road construction, facilities and parks maintenance, and project planning and implementation;
(E) Knowledge and experience in the principals and practices of organizational management and leadership;
(F) Demonstrated experience with budgeting and fiscal management, safety, and personnel and risk management in a public services or similar environment;
(G) The ability to attain and maintain a certification for the Local Assistance Program (L.A.P.);
(H) Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; or
(I) Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Pay & Benefits
This is an exempt, non-union position with a starting salary range of $101,650 – $123,433/year, Grade L of the Town’s non-union, exempt, pay ranges. Starting pay will be determined based on demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, and work experience.
