Environmental Planner/Deputy Health Officer

Windham, a growing community in the southern part of NH, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Environmental Planner/Deputy Health Officer. Under the direction of the Community Development Director, this position supports the Community Development Department by administering Town health regulations relating to wastewater treatment system pump-outs and inspections in the environmentally sensitive area around Cobbett's Pond. It is also responsible for compliance with all aspects of Windham’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permitting obligations in collaboration with the Town’s Stormwater Management Committee.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to conduct research independently is required. This position is responsible for applying knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Excellent computer skills including a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of ESRI GIS mapping software is strongly preferred.

Candidates must have the ability to work effectively and respectfully with the public and demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Geology, Chemistry, or Environmental Engineering (or related discipline), with at least two (2) years of environmental work experience, preferably in municipal government; OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
