ABOUT THE ROLE: Performs highly responsible work of a legal nature within a police agency. Assists in prosecutorial functions, to include the prosecution of Salem Police Department cases in Circuit Court and State administrative hearings
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Prepares and oversees misdemeanor and violation-level cases in Circuit Court. Reviews reports and cases for thoroughness and completeness. Assigns follow-up as required.
- Represents the agency in administrative license suspension hearings, and other proceedings as needed regarding the Division of Motor Vehicles and Bureau of Hearings.
- Coordinates with department personnel, witnesses, other prosecutors, other law enforcement agencies, court staff and county officials as is appropriate on cases.
- Assists officers, including detectives, as sought on ongoing investigations, active cases and to include charging decisions and search warrants.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of law degree.
- Member of the New Hampshire Bar Association. Remain in good standing with the Bar to include satisfying the annual continuing legal education requirements.
- Adherence to the NHBA’s Rules of Professional Conduct to include the Special Responsibilities of a Prosecutor.
- Demonstrated oral and written skills.
- Maintain solid judgment and decision-making ability; ability to multi-task and effectively perform in emergency or stressful situations.
- Prosecution and courtroom experience preferred.
- Must have valid driver’s license
WHAT WE OFFER:

$62.81/ week for family coverage.
$46.50/week for 2-person coverage.
$23.09/ week for single coverage.

$11.71/ week for family coverage.
$5.06/ week for family coverage.
$0.00/week for single coverage.
If you already have qualifying insurance, we'll pay you $5,000 annually to waive coverage.
- Disability Insurance – 70% of base wages for up to 26 weeks.
- Life Insurance – Equal to base annual earnings.
- New Hampshire Retirement System Group I – Defined benefit pension plan.
- Tuition reimbursement for pre-approved courses.
