The Town of Salem, NH seeks a full-time (40 hours/week) Mechanic – 1st Class to perform a wide variety of mechanical duties to repair and maintain a variety of vehicles and equipment, and heavy diesel equipment in the Public Works division of the Municipal Services Department. Position is responsible to perform periodic inspection of Town vehicles and equipment and requires sound mechanical skills and the ability to react and correct a variety of problems.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a high school, vocational or technical school.
Requirements include possession of a CDL-B. Possession of a current State of NH Motor Vehicle Inspection License is desirable.
Pay range $25.88 to $27.99/hour dependent upon qualifications and experience with competitive benefits including participation in the NH Retirement System. Pre-employment testing will include educational and criminal background, and motor vehicle records.
