The Town of Amherst, New Hampshire Department of Public Works (DPW) Highway division is accepting applications to fill a Laborer/Truck Driver position. This full-time position is a rewarding career building opportunity. We are looking for a team member that has the ability to work in a professional, customer orientated environment.
Job responsibilities include a variety of routine semi-skilled duties involving driving, basic routine year-round maintenance and repair of the town’s roadway systems including snow removal and maintenance of town owned facilities and grounds. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 12 months minimum experience as a construction laborer or maintenance aide, basic computer skills (preferred), or combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge and skills to perform the job. Preference given to NH CDL Class A license with air brake and tanker endorsements. NH CDL Class B required (must be obtained by end of 6-month probation).
Normal work hours are 6:30AM till 2:30PM Monday through Friday. Starting hourly rate of $22.92 hr. adjusted depending on qualifications with full benefit package, including State of NH retirement.
