Water and Wastewater Operator

The Town of Lancaster is currently seeking applications and resumes from qualified individuals to fill a position within the Town’s Water & Wastewater Department as an Operator. This position works under the supervision of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent. This is full-time position, with growth opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Inspects plant operations on a daily basis, checking equipment, machinery, treatment facilities, pump stations and lab duties.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to the wastewater collection system, water distribution system and treatment facilities.
- Advises the supervisor on all personnel matters, related to treatment, collection and distribution system.
- Ensures accurate record keeping for department needs.
- Responsible for providing a safe work place for all working with or for the department.
- Tidiness in and around all facilities with regards to safety.
- General operation and maintenance of equipment and buildings associated with the department.
- Assist the public and other employees when needed.
- Perform other related duties as instructed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid NH motor vehicle operator license.
- Ability to obtain Class B CDL.
- Must have NH Water Works Operator Grade I license and NH Wastewater Treatment Operator certification or the ability to obtain within one year.
- Must be available for weekend and on call in emergencies.
Physical effort is required when performing required job duties to include bending, turning and repetition. Lifting requirements apply to all job duties, weight range between 25lbs – 100lbs. There are variable working conditions.
