Temporary Maintenance Technician-Parks and Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department has a TEMPORARY full time Maintenance Technician position open to cover during an employee leave. The department is looking for someone who can work early October, 2024 to early March 2025. The duties will involve:  The daily maintenance (cleaning, room set up, minor repairs) of the City Wide Community Center and the Merrimack Lodge at White Park and supervising PT maintenance staff.  Duties will also involve snow removal of the sidewalks and areas at the community center. Valid drivers license required, ability to lift 50 lbs.  Must pass a criminal background check.
 
DEPARTMENT:   Parks & Recreation Department

TYPICAL WORK SHIFT/SCHEDULE:   Position is 40 hours a week and OT may be required, work hours are Monday – Friday 6 am to 2:30 pm and some nights and weekends may be required. 

Pay Rate:  $22.26 per hour.

 Examples of Duties:
All essential functions may not be performed by all incumbents.

Responsible for the daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of the community center and related grounds.

Assists with program set up of chairs, tables and various equipment.
 
Performs grounds maintenance work such as mowing, trimming, weeding, irrigating lawns, raking, shoveling, sweeping, and pruning trees; maintains brickwork, concrete areas, roofs, and other similar fixtures of buildings; paints interior and exterior surfaces.
 
Assists with plowing and removing snow from roadways and walkways during winter season.
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 Typical Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
 
High School diploma or GED; and, one to two years of experience performing skilled labor or trades work related to assignment; or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
 
Licenses and Certifications:
 
Valid New Hampshire Driver's License.
