Highway Laborer/Truck Driver

The Town of Plaistow is accepting applications for candidates to fill the full-time position of Highway Department Laborer/Truck Driver. 

The Highway Laborer will be required to perform semi-skilled labor and skilled with heavy-duty trucks and/or light-duty motorized equipment. A Class B CDL driver’s license is required with DOT medical card. Duties performed will depend on the crew assignment and time of year requiring an adjustment to the schedule as directed by the supervisor. The Laborer position tentatively will work Monday through Friday from 7:00AM until 3:30PM, 6:00AM to 4:00PM during the summer months, and must be available for inclement weather events. Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor, occasional heavy lifting, and perform heavy manual work outdoors in varying weather conditions and snow removal. Candidates for this position should possess the ability to understand and comply with verbal and written instructions and to maintain a variety of records is necessary. A successful candidate should also have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.  Candidates for this position should be highly organized, energetic, motivated, and dependable. The successful candidate must also be a team player, highly organized, self-motivated, and must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.   

Salary for this exempt position is a minimum hourly rate of $22.15 and is dependent upon experience. The Town of Plaistow offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package and is an EOE employer. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is preferred. Applicants must be age 18 by the date of hire; must successfully complete a criminal background check and physical exam; and must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record. Previous experience working for a highway department or in a similar environment is a plus. We are an EOE.
