Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector Position Available
Job Summary
Performs highly responsible clerical work for the Town Clerk/Tax Collector. This is a part-time, 27 hours per week, position with wages of $18 per hour.
Supervision Received
The Deputy is directly supervised by the Town Clerk/Tax Collector. The position of Deputy is approved and appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Deputy serves directly under the Town Clerk/Tax Collector and is responsible for all duties delegated to them by the Town Clerk/Tax Collector.
Examples of Essential Duties
· Processing motor vehicle and boat registrations and associated reporting
· Processing of dog licenses
· Issuing of Transfer Station permits
· Processing tax payments and associated reporting
· Vital Statistics and all areas applicable – birth, death, marriage, and divorce
· Responds to tax inquiries either from the taxpayer or other entity
· Assists with town election duties regarding the election process
· Answers phone and assists with customers questions/concerns
· Clerical duties such as filing, organization, workspace tidiness
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Ability to attend all required certification classes and general seminars and meetings as required. Previous municipal experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Proficient computer skills, good communication and problem-solving skills. The ability to handle a fast-paced environment, a quick learner, and can organize tasks based on priority.
Minimum Qualifications Required
High school diploma or equivalent with office or business experience. Per New Hampshire Statute, the Deputy Town Clerk/Tax Collector must be a resident of the Town of Epsom.
