Salem, NH (30,000), seeks a proactive and collaborative manager with significant municipal experience to serve as its Town Manager. The Town is a thriving, residential community located in southern New Hampshire, with a growing commercial base, including a 2 million square foot mixed use development at the former Rockingham Park racetrack property. The Town has a five member Board of Selectmen, which appoints the Town Manager, and operates under a Town Meeting/Official Ballot form of government. Salem is a full service community with an overall annual spending plan of approximately $51.6 million.
The successful candidate should possess a Master’s degree in a field related to municipal management, and at least 10 years of progressive experience as a municipal manager or assistant municipal manager, or an equivalent combination of private sector experience, education and involvement in or with municipal government. The successful candidate must have experience with municipal finance, personnel administration, labor relations, community planning and economic development, and intergovernmental relations. The successful candidate must be a community leader with high interpersonal and communication skills and possess a strong belief in collaboration, and a team oriented municipal organization.
Salary: $135,000-$165,000 commensurate with qualifications. Salem is an EOE.
