Eaton Road Reconstruction

Town of Swanzey – Town Hall - 620 Old Homestead Highway Swanzey, NH  03446           

Separate sealed BIDS for the construction of:Eaton Road Reconstruction will be received by the Town of Swanzey at the Swanzey Town Hall until 4:00 PM (Local Time) on May 20, 2019. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Swanzey Town Hall. The work includes approximately 10,500 LF of full width road reconstruction, open and closed drainage improvements and culvert replacements. 

  1. Completion time for the project will be 180 days for Substantial Completion (including all final pavement installations) and 210 days to Final Payment from the date specified on the "Notice to Proceed."  Liquidated damages shall be in the amount of $1,000.00 for each calendar day beyond the date established for Substantial Completion and $500.00 for each calendar day beyond the date established for Final Payment.
  2. The Contract includes provisions for a winter shutdown if requested by the Contractor. The shutdown period will begin November 15th and extend to March 30th (135 days). Work will be permitted during the shutdown period with advance approval from the Town (work days in this period will not be counted toward Contract time).  In this case, Work Zones 1-3 shall be Substantially Complete (binder course pavement installation) by November 15, 2019.
  3. Bid security is to accompany bid proposals and shall be 5% of the total bid price.
  4. The successful bidder must furnish 100% Performance and Payment Bonds and will be required to execute the Contract Agreement.
  5. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to accept any bid, to waive any informality on bids received, and to take any action that it may deem to be in the best interest of the Owner.
  6. No award will be made to any bidder who has not been prequalified with the NHDOT as published on the “NHDOT Prequalified Contractor’s List” at the time of bid opening.
  7. No Bidder may withdraw a Bid within 60 days after the actual date of opening thereof.
  8. There will be a pre-bid meeting (non-mandatory) for all prospective bidders held at the:Whitcomb Hall, 17 Main Street on May 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
  9. Inquiries as to availability of Contract Documents and technical questions regarding the plans and specifications shall be directed to Underwood Engineers, Inc. at 603-436-6192.
