THIS WEBINAR IS BEING HOSTED THROUGH THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU WEB-EX CONFERENCE PROGRAM
Three years away from Census Day, April 1, 2020, the U.S. Census Bureau continues to prepare for a complete and accurate 2020 Census, and you can play an important role in this decennial project. Among other things, the census helps determine how more than $400 billion of federal funding each year are spent on infrastructure, programs and services.
To get an accurate count, the Census Bureau must build an accurate address list of every housing unit and this is where you can help out. Join David Kraiker, Geographic Coordinator with the U.S. Census Bureau, who will outline the Local Update of Census Address (LUCA) - a project that allows local government to participate in counting housing units, the first step in getting ready for the 2020 Census. Governments may sign up and receive the Census Bureau's street and address list for their area, then make corrections, changes and additions.
This webinar will explain the basic concepts of the LUCA operation, how you can participate, options available, and related security commitments. Kraiker will also show where to find Housing Unit counts for each community, provide a basic overview of American Factfinder (the primary vehicle for Census demographic data), and guide us in identifying the tract and block numbers for different communities.
America gets only one chance each decade to count its population, so please join in on this national effort.
This webinar is open to members of the New Hampshire Municipal Association.
